Autumn Waning - 16" x 20" - Oil

The Arnold Arboretum in Boston, MA. is a beautiful collection of trees and other foliage. In late autumn I went with a group (NH Plein Air Painters) to paint before the leaves were all gone. The sky was ominous but the sun was still trying to force it's way through wherever the clouds would let it. Eventually the rain won out but the combination of the changing sky and the changing leaves was a wonderment of color.
